Our computers are constantly working; the system and programs are updated. Because of our actions, or because of errors in the programs, and maybe from the consequences of viruses, the system may start to bugger. Of course, almost any problem is solved with someone’s help or with their own forces. Many people want to do a computer repair with their own hands, but there are 5 things that you better not do if you do not have experience, or at least 100% of the exact instructions how to do it correctly. Instead of solving the problem, it can turn out even worse. The Internet has a lot of different information, both in the form of articles and step-by-step video instructions. But the computer is a complex device, so some things should be done only with full confidence in the correctness of the actions.
Editing the system registry
The registry is a complex data source with a hierarchical view of information. It stores all settings and parameters of the operating system, installed programs, and equipment. Stable and correct operation of the system directly depends on the registry. Damaged or incorrect data in the registry can lead to system crashes. If the system stops loading or starts to work worse after manipulating the registry, use the recovery from the checkpoint.
Deleting files from system folders
In general, Windows warns that you go to the system folders, and by default, their contents are not displayed (in case of using the standard explorer). But sometimes you need to delete or modify files to solve a specific task. But without special knowledge or correct and detailed instructions, there is better not to climb. There is a great risk of getting a non-functioning system, and recovery points cannot help.
Do not dig in the system unit
I’m not saying that in any case, do not open the system unit. Simply clean it from dust, add a memory bar or replace a video card. But some try to replace the motherboard or cooling system on the central or video processor, and then cry that nothing works. Computer components are very fragile and capricious things that are afraid of static tension and awkward movements. A step to the left, a step to the right and on an output we have a non-working computer or even smoke. If the computer does not turn on you can try something that is sure, and leave the rest to specialists.
Do not play with the BIOS
In addition to the operating system, there is another “mini-operating system” in the computer that controls the computer before Windows boots. The BIOS manages the CPU, fans, hard drives and other devices, and stores the parameters of their operating modes. Improperly changing BIOS settings can lead to a complete system out of order, or to minor problems, such as slow operation or the inaccessibility of some devices.
Manipulating the command line
As you know, the command line is a powerful way to control the behavior of the operating system and other programs, but only with the skillful use. If you run the command line and start executing commands, especially those associated with changing the file system or other data, you must be absolutely sure that everything is doing right. Otherwise, you can be one on one with a more serious problem than it was before. And this is quite bad.
Do not do complicated things, such as repairing your computer with your own hands, if you do not understand this or do not have exact instructions. It’s better to ask a friend or a computer repair center for help with a little money, or at least use reliable sources of information! For novice users, you should read what programs are needed for the computer.
